Francisco Dias – Chair
Francisco Dias holds a PhD degree in Tourism Science from the University of Perpignan, France. He is Associate Professor of the School Tourism and Maritime Technology at the IPLeiria – the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (Portugal), and Diretor of the ART&TUR – International Tourism Film Festival.
Moreover, he was the founder and the first editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation and also the former diretor of GiTUR – Tourism Research Unit of Leiria Polytechnic. Due to his entrepreneurial initiative, several international projects and networks have been created, namely: International Conference on Destination Branding, Heritage and Authenticity (Univ. of Santigo de Compostela, Spain, 2012); International Conference of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation (Univ. School of Physical Education in Poznan, Poland, 2014); Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Association (he was its first president of Direction Board, being and nowadays the vice-president); 2nd EATSA Conference (univ. of Lisbon and Coimbra and Leiria Polytechnic, Portugal, 2016); and Centro de Portugal Film Commission (founder member and as vice-president); Favourite Destinations Worldwide project, among others projects. His researches have been published in several leading journals, such as Annals of Tourism Research, British Food Journal, Community Development and European Journal of Tourism Research.
Cristina Barroco – Chair
Cristina Barroco has a PhD in Tourism from the University of Aveiro, an MSc degree in Management and a bachelor’s degree in Tourism. She started her professional activity in Grupo Visabeira in 1995.
She has been an associate professor at Polytechnic Institute of Viseu since 2000 and is the Director of the Tourism BSc degree. She is effective member of CISED – Centre for Research in Digital Services. She is also member of CITUR – Centre for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation and GOVCOPP – Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (university of Aveiro). She has presented papers in several conferences and her research interests include Accessible Tourism, Food Tourism, Wine Tourism and New Tourism Products.
Nuno Almeida – Chair
Nuno Almeida holds a PhD in Business Management – with specialization in Marketing – from the University of Coimbra (Portugal).
Teacher in the public higher education since 2001 is currently Coordinator of the Master in Marketing and Tourism Promotion at ESTM – Polytechnic of Leiria. He´s an Integrated member of CiTUR – Center for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation – with main research focus is the new trends in tourism marketing.
Ana Luísa Pires
Ana Luísa Pires is Associate Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Portugal. She holds a PhD in Literature (University of Aveiro) and an Advanced Course in Tourism (University of Aveiro).
She is a full member of Citur Leiria (Centre for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation) and has collaborated with the EJTHR (European Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation) as a language editor. Her research interests include literature tourism, film tourism and cultural studies.
Fernanda Oliveira

Júlia Fonseca
Júlia Fragoso da Fonseca is Associate Professor at ESTM – Leiria Polytechnic Institute, since 1996, in the area of Management and Marketing. She teaches in the Marketing, Management, Hospitality and Tourism area.
She holds a PhD in Marketing and International Trade from the University of Extremadura, Spain, and a Master in Business Management, with specialization in Marketing from the University of Minho and Graduation in Business Management from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. She also is member of CITUR – Center for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation. Her research interests covers the areas of Marketing, Management, Tourism and Hospitality.
Sofia Teixeira Eurico
Professor at School of Tourism and Maritime Technology – Leiria Polytechnic Institute, since 2001 and Coordinator of the Tourism Degree since 2012. Ph.D. in Tourism at the Faculty of Economy from the University of Algarve.
Key research areas are Higher Educadion in Tourism; Ethics; Social Responsibility and Sustainability and Tourism. Effective member of CiTUR – Centre for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation and associated member of CIEO – Research Center for Spatial and Organizational Dynamics.
Suzanne Amaro
Suzanne Amaro has a PhD in Marketing and Strategy and is an associate professor at the Management Department of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, Portugal.
She is currently head of the Marketing BSc and MSc Degree. Her current research interests include consumer behaviour and e-Tourism. She has published articles on these topics in top-tier journals. She is a full member of CISED research unit and member of CITUR – Centre for Tourism Research.

Alexandra Matos Pereira
Ph.D. in Tourism, Leisure and Culture from University of Coimbra and a Diploma on Advanced Studies in the same scientific area. Her Master in Translation Studies is from the University of Porto as well as her Licenciate Degree in French and English Modern Languages and Literatures.
She is Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona do Porto and ISLA – Instituto Politécnico de Gestão e Tecnologia and Invited Assistant Professor at University of Coimbra where she lectures Tourism Studies, focusing mainly on the social and cultural aspects of tourism. She has been academic director and executive manager on a private polytechnic institute, in Porto, where she has lectured Tourism Studies and Applied English to undergraduate and graduate students. She has also tutored internships in tourism, translation and interpretation and took part of dissertations’ defense juries. She has been full member of organizing and scientific committees of international conferences on Tourism and on Translation, where she has participated as keynote speaker, moderator and reviewer.
She is Vice-President of the Scientific Committee of CEPESE – Centre for the Study of Population, Economics and Society, University of Porto, being also Research Associate in the Heritage, Culture and Tourism Research Group. Her research interests are mainly centered on Touring tourism (Ph.D. thesis), Roots tourism, Tour Guiding, Tourism Destination Image, having already published several papers on those areas. She is editorial board member of several international journals of tourism and hospitality.
Ali Afshar
Ali Afsar holds a PhD in architectural studies from University Putra Malaysia. He also completed his master of architecture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran.
His researches focus on a substantial amount of investigation in vernacular architecture and tourism studies and their application in scientific and business problems.
He demonstrates the feasibility of his ideas by implementing the knowledge of vernacular architecture and integrating it into the architectural design of residential and recreational complexes, mostly in tourism destinations of Iran.
He is a member of founding committee and advisory board of Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Association and a founding member of Experimental Research in Architecture, Societies and Innovative Territories international group.

Ana Sofia Viana
PhD in Marketing and International Trade from the University of Extremadura (Spain). Master in International Trade from the University of Minho (1999). Graduated in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra. Post-graduate degree in Tourism Management by INDEG-ISCTE (2001).
Professor Coordinator of the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology (ESTM), IPLeiria. Coordinator of the Master in Hotel Management (since 2016). She has held teaching positions in the category of Adjunct Professor (2004-2018) in the Department of Social and Human Sciences. She taught several curricular units to the undergraduate and master courses in the area of Tourism. She has served as Deputy Director / Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors (2002-2010).

Arvind Kumar Saraswati
Assistant Professor at Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, GGSIP University, New Delhi, India. Having completed his Ph.D in Business Administration from Aligarh Muslim University his doctoral work is acknowledged by Best Ph.D Thesis Award.
He is the recipient of ‘Young Teacher Welcome Award’ (2016) and ‘Aspiring Researcher Award’ (2017) by Indian Hospitality Congress and also received ‘Global Education and Corporate Leadership Award (GECL)-2018’ for being Best Young Researcher. He is editor of Indian Journal of Applied Hospitality and Tourism Research and also associated with the editorial board of many journals of repute.
He is also Co-convener of India International Hotel Travel Tourism Research Conference’, India. His specialization includes Hospitality Management, Tourism Administration & Management, Service Marketing, Relationship Marketing and Online Marketing.
Carlos Peixeira Marques
Assistant Professor at the University of Tras-os-Montes and Alto Douro, teaching Tourism Marketing and Quantitative Methodologies.
Researcher at the Centre for Transdisciplinary Development Studies (CETRAD). His research, focusing on the attitudes and behaviours of managers, employees, and consumers, has been published in numerous journals and international proceedings, mainly in the areas of business and tourism. He coordinated or participated in several research projects studying destination image, tourism impacts, and tourist behaviour in rural areas, particularly the Douro Wine Region.

Eugeni Osácar
Professor at CETT-UB, an international School for education and knowledge transfer in Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy, affiliated to the University of Barcelona.
PhD of didactic social sciences and heritage at the University of Barcelona, master’s degree in strategic management of tourism companies, master’s degree in tourism marketing and bachelor’s degree in tourism.
He is research director at CETT-UB and masters director at the same institution. Also, he is the director of the Research Group TURCiT (Turismo, Cultura y Territorio), which obtained in January 2018 the official recognition as Emerging Research Group by AGAUR, the Agency for Management of University and Research Grants of Generalitat de Catalunya, and co-director of the new CETT’s academic journal Tourism & Heritage Journal.
In addition, he is the academic director of the Chair of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy CETT-UB, the first chair in tourism in the city of Barcelona, created by CETT, the University of Barcelona, the Gaspar-Espuña Foundation, with the support of Barcelona City Council.
His research activity is focused on cultural tourism and particularly on tourism and cinema. The past ten years he has participated as a speaker in more than thirty international and national congresses, symposiums and seminars, and has also lead several projects regarding the topics mentioned previously.
Concerning the cinema and tourism binomial, he has published five books (two of them translated to English), the most recent the second enlarged edition of “Barcelona, una ciudad de película” (November 2018), 4 book chapters, a dozen of scientific and popular articles, and 15 digital guides.

Giovana Goretti Feijó de Almeida

PhD thesis in territorial brands as cultural product in the scope of Regional Development. In the Master Dissertation she investigated the relationship between territorial identity and branding of regional brands.
She has graduated in Social Communication, qualification in Advertising with specialization in Branding and Place Branding (UNISC, Brazil). She is Visiting Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná, Brazil; and teacher of methodology in MBA in the Business Finance at the UNISC, Brazil. Her research focus is about: the relationship between brands and territories from cultural studies, urban studies, tourism and Regional Development. Inês Brasão holds a PhD in Historical Sociology and Economics from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
She has collaborated in several Research Projects, namely “Reconversion of Heritage and Sea People (R&D)”: Reconversion of Material and Symbolic Heritage [Ref.: 31-04-01-FEP-0095] and “The Place of Speech” [PTDC / CPC-HAT / 4894/2012]. (FCSH/UNL). She has developed studies in the area of Sociology of Culture, Sociology of Work and Leisure and, more recently, in the area of Heritage and Tourism. Among other books, she published Hotel, Behind the Scenes (2017), Lagoa de Óbidos: Guide to the Interpretation of Heritage (2015) and Cross Views: a portrait of Óbidos Lagoon (2015). She is an Integrated Researcher at the IHC (FCSH_UNL) and a collaborating researcher at CITUR (IPL).
Isabel Borges
PhD in Tourism, Leisure and Culture – branch of Tourism and Development by the University of Coimbra. With a background in International Marketing and Tourism Promotion at ISCET – Instituto Superior de Ciências Empresariais de Turismo, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Tour Operators Management from the Estoril School of Hospitality and Tourism.
She has spent 15 years working in the area of wine tourism, developing projects related to hotel and tourism in various wine regions. She is a coordinator, university professor, consultant and trainer in the tourism, events and hotel industry. Her main research interests and publication focus on Tourism and Development, Wine Tourism, Events, Territorial Marketing and Accessibility. João Vasconcelos is a geographer passionate about photography. He holds a Master degree on Land Management and Environmental Planning and a PhD on Environment.
He is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology – Institute Polytechnic of Leiria where he was the head Coordinator of the Tourism Research Group (GITUR) from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria from 2013-2016.

Luís Lima Santos is the Coordinator of the Centre for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation
(CiTUR).
He hold a PhD in Economic and Business Sciences and he is professor of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria at the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology (ESTM). Currently researches in hospitality management accounting, an area in which he has several papers and books published.

Dr. Madhuri Sawant
Director International Centre for Buddhist Tourism in the Department of Tourism Administration, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad (MS), India and the Executive Secretary of Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Association.
As an Expert Member of Tourism she is working on the Government of India’s University Grants Commission and various prominent Academic Committees of Tourism in over 18 Universities in India and abroad.
A post graduate in Tourism Administration (MTA) and PhD (Tourism) she is the first UCC NET-JRF in the state of Maharashtra.
She also holds PG Diplomas in Business Management, German Language and Environmental Studies. Mara Franco
PhD in Business and Management Studies from the University of Porto, Master in Marketing and Commercial Management from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Graduate in Advertising and Marketing from the Polytechnical Institute of Lisbon.
She is currently an Invited Professor at the University of Madeira in Graduate degrees in Management and Economics and is a Researcher involved in several research projects linked to tourism carrying capacity, to tourism markets characterization, to customer behavior and to open-system intermediaries.
She has participated in national and international conferences aligned with her research and publications.
She also collaborates with the Tourism Observatory and is an advisor for applications to funding programs at the University of Madeira.

Noelia Araújo
Noelia Araújo Vila is Doctor in Direction and Planning of Tourism (2013) and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management (2006).
Since 2007, she has collaborated in the coordination of the Master’s Degree in Direction and Planning of Tourism in Ourense and teaches as a guest professor in the Departments of Business Organization and Marketing and Financial Economics and Accounting (University of Vigo). Participates in various research projects linked to the tourism and business sector. She is member of the research group of the University of Vigo Emitur (Marketing and Tourism). Swen Waterreus
Swen is a tourism management lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Inholland in Amsterdam, where he teaches on sustainability, ethics, policy and research methods, besides running tourism research projects.
Previously he taught at the university of Manabí, Ecuador, where he also investigated sustainable
tourism development and politics.
Furthermore, he has been involved in tourism
research in Kenya, Gabon and Nicaragua. Swen holds a Master of Science degree in Leisure, Tourism and Environment from Wageningen University, the Netherlands.
In 2017 he was president of the jury for the Terres Catalunya International Eco & Tourism Film Festival in Tortosa, Spain. Unsurprisingly, his main interests are sustainability and the future of tourism and he believes film plays a very important role in the diffusion of the sustainability movement, which is going to change not only the way we travel, but how we live at large!

Tsuyoshi Kigawa
Tsuyoshi Kigawa is Associate Professor at Wakayama University, Japan. After graduating Kyoto Institute of Technology, he explored several countries, Sri Lanka, China and USA as an architect and studied urban morphology at University College London.
After coming back to Japan, he has carried out researches how distill narrative stories from local cities; and, has written screenplays on Rakugo and
short films. He made several short films as a producer and a director. Currently, he manages film festivals, Fukui Short Film Festival and Japan World’s Tourism Film Festival as a general director.
Indonesia
Yanki Hartijasti
Yanki Hartijasti is affiliated with the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Indonesia. She earned her MBA degree from the University of the Philippines.
She also obtained Master of Science and Doctor
in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Universitas Indonesia. After gaining 15 years of professional experiences in various industries as an HR practitioner, she then decided to take the plunge into the academic world.
She has been invited to share her knowledge and disseminate her research findings as a visiting professor, keynote speaker, and panelist in Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Poland.
She is also active as a member of peer-reviewed academic journal in different countries.
Yanki is a vigorous member of various international conference associations aligned with her research and publications which focus on leadership, learning, and cultural values, as well as cyber behavior among multi-generational workforce and travelers.
Jakson Soares
Jakson Soares has a PhD in Tourism and is a professor at the Organisation of Companies and Commercialisation Department of the University of Santiago Compostela.

Aldo Di Russo has earned his degree in Physics from the Sapienza University of Rome in 1976. In the 1980s, he shifted his professional career towards IT and multimedia applications.
From 1980 to 1995, he was employed by ENI, the Italian oil company, to design and implement oil trade shows at global level. Since year 2000, he has focused his professional attention on the design and delivery of projects connected to the reuse of redundant cultural heritage assets, receiving recognition at world level. As an advisor for the reuse of heritage buildings, Aldo has developed innovative solutions for cultural heritage communication, museum media and multimedia in the field of cultural heritage and tourism.
His pioneering innovations in the use of multivision technologies with over 250 cultural heritage and corporate communication projects, have received numerous awards, including: the Blue Genius, the AMI Experience Award; the BIMA Award; the eCulture Award; and the SEE/B/0016/4.3/X/SAGITTARIUS Award for cultural communication and the MIS ETC 2617 ALECTOR Award for best practice in heritage interpretation. He is permanent member of Europeana with over 50 publications on new media and culture, creator of about 200 exhibitions, documentaries and shows.

Specialist in cultural trips & niche, has developed destination management with Chile, Turkey, Uruguay and Costa Rica, through communications management, branding, promotion to relevant audiences, participation in fairs and workshops, organization of Press and Fam tours. Lover of history, gastronomy and travel, she has been invited to interviews and panels on branding and design of tourism experiences in different media at national and international level.
Carlos Peixeira Marques
Assistant Professor at the University of Tras-os-Montes and Alto Douro, teaching Tourism Marketing and Quantitative Methodologies.
Researcher at the Centre for Transdisciplinary Development Studies (CETRAD). His research, focusing on the attitudes and behaviours of managers, employees, and consumers, has been published in numerous journals and international proceedings, mainly in the areas of business and tourism. He coordinated or participated in several research projects studying destination image, tourism impacts, and tourist behaviour in rural areas, particularly the Douro Wine Region.
John Driedonks
Professor emeritus of practice, and media strategist. He has been retired since January 2019. John is a guest lecturer “storytelling”, “converged newsrooms” and “crowdfunding” in Ireland, South Africa and in the Netherlands amongst others.
John Driedonks has created in 2010 the documentary making international course “CampusDoc”, together with his buddy and colleague Brian Maston, in cooperation with City University of New York (CUNY). During this twenty week crash course 20 students pitch, research, produce, crowdfund, film, edit and distribute their documentary concepts. Distribution starts after the premiere during CampusDoc (International) Film Festival CDFF.
As lecturer (2006-2018) at the School of Journalism, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences UUAS (The Netherlands) Driedonks coordinated a real-life converged newsroom with a focus on broadcasting TV talkshows, and web, all aired on the local TV station. Between 1982-2006 John was a journalist, finally as editor-in-chief of RTV Utrecht (radio-TV + web).
Nancy Duxbury
Nancy Duxbury, PhD, is a Researcher and Co-coordinator of the “Cities, Cultures and Architecture” research group at CES, and a member of the European Expert Network on Culture.
She is the Principal Investigator of a major research project on creative tourism, «CREATOUR: Creative Tourism Destination Development in Small Cities and Rural Areas» (2016-2020); and lead of the CES team contributing to the H2020 project, «UNCHARTED: Understanding, Capturing and Fostering the Societal Value of Culture» (2020-2024). Her research also focuses on culture and sustainability, cultural planning, and cultural mapping. She is also part of the Organizing Committee for the Training Series “Publish-do-not-Perish: Survive the Stampede,” which offers Advanced Training Seminars for PhD and post-PhD researchers. She is an Adjunct Professor of the School of Communication, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada, and the Department of Journalism, Communication, and New Media in the Faculty of Arts, Thompson Rivers University, Canada. She holds a doctorate in Communication and a master’s in Publishing from Simon Fraser University. Her research has examined municipal involvement in cultural development, cultural infrastructure, cultural indicators, culture and sustainability, cultural policy, and book publishing.
Tsuyoshi Kigawa
Associate Professor at Wakayama University, Japan. After graduating Kyoto Institute of Technology, he explored several countries, Sri Lanka, China and USA as an architect and studied urban morphology at University College London.
After coming back to Japan, he has carried out researches how distill narrative stories from local cities; and, has written screenplays on Rakugo and
short films. He made several short films as a producer and a director. Currently, he manages film festivals, Fukui Short Film Festival and Japan World’s Tourism Film Festival as a general director.
